Jesus and Juicing

The past couple of weeks I’ve been able to breath for the first time since I was diagnosed. It’s all almost gone?!?! It’s unbelievable! I actually messaged my doctor the next day, “Did yesterday really happen? Is this real life?! Are you sure there wasn’t a mistake with my scan?!” She messaged me back that she was happy to tell me, once again, it is real!!!
I had no idea how many people would be affected by my story. I heard story after story of people in tears and breaking out into dance over my healing!!! People I’ve never even met... complete strangers, crying tears of joy.... over me! My heart is so full. I can’t even begin to express the kindness and compassion that everyone has shown me throughout this time. To say my community and support is amazing is an understatement.
Unfortunately I have heard many stories of people going through cancer that don’t have support. I don’t know how people do it, no one should have to battle this alone. I want to be able to pay it forward to others who don’t have the kind of support I have. It’s amazing to see how God has already used my story to help encourage others and increase faith, but I know there is much more to be done. I know there is much more that I can personally do.
One way I can pay it forward is to share what I have learned so far in my quest for healing. Let me tell you, healing your body is a full time job! First of all, there is so much information out there that it can be overwhelming. Everybody claims to have a cure and half my time was spent sifting through what was real and what was just a sales pitch.
One source that I have found super helpful is chrisbeatscancer.com. He was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2003 (at the age of 26), refused chemo and radically changed his diet and lifestyle to heal his cancer AND he is still cancer free to this day. I remember listening to a video he had on his site on our way down to Penn Medicine for one of my first appointments after being diagnosed. I was terrified and FULL of fear and anxiety, but after listening to his short video I felt encouraged to learn that I had some control over cancer by choosing the foods/supplements that I fed my body. When you feel completely out of control, you grab onto any glimpse of hope you can. If I could share one thing with someone newly diagnosed it is this- CANCER IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE.

Everyone has their own journey and I respect that. My personal decision to fight cancer has been to use several avenues that include modern medicine, nutrition, exercise, and of course, prayer! I do believe half the battle is our mindset. When we learn that we have the power to help heal our bodies- it shifts our mindset from hopelessness to HOPEFULNESS and from victim to FIGHTER! Fighters take action, fighters persevere, and fighters WIN. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
I’m going to share with you how I have changed my lifestyle/diet so far. In the beginning I wanted to be drastic and change everything overnight, but I quickly learned that wasn’t realistic for me. I have slowly added things to my daily routine as I learn about them along the way and I plan to continue to do so. Unfortunately, the medical community and the holistic world don’t seem to be on the same page yet. When I ask doctors about certain supplements, I am always met with the same answer “We don’t know if they help or if they contradict chemo because they are not FDA approved”. And many people with a holistic approach believe that chemo is more likely to harm you than heal you. Sadly that leaves us fighters to figure it out on our own, which is why I am so thankful to learn from the cancer survivors ahead of me who have already done the hard work.... AND which is why I want to do my part to help by sharing what I have learned so far.
I have many supplements/foods I have added to my daily routine , but I don’t want to overwhelm anyone like I was when beginning this journey to healing. So, I will start with what I have found to be beneficial to my health and so powerful in changing my lifestyle- juicing.
Juicing
Juicing is the first change I made to my diet, it has shown to be successful in counteracting the growth of tumors and cancers cells in your body. What?!?! This is amazing news!! This means we aren’t powerless to this disease! This means we can take action!! I heard from survivor after survivor that they juiced their asses off when they were first diagnosed.
In the first few months I was so sick AND had a brand new baby, (I was just a little preoccupied 🤣👶🏻😴) so I bought organic cold pressed juices from a company called Lumi that I knew came from a trustworthy source (the owner was my neighbor-lucky me 😁). I juice on my own now too, but it’s nice to have Lumi on hand when I don’t have time and am on the go. I also have a neighbor who will randomly leave me fresh juice at my door (you know who you are 💗), again... I have a rock star community! It really does take a village!
I to stick to mostly vegetable juices since fruit is high in sugar, and sugar isn’t great for trying to kill those nasty cancer cells. I try to juice between 30 and 60 oz a day. Here are a few of my most used recipes.
Green Monster-
1 bunch of kale
1 lemon
1 inch ginger (a little goes a loooong way- I learned that the hard way 😅)
1 cucumber
1 apple
4 celery stalks
Alkaline Green Juice- (cancer cannot thrive in an alkaline environment)
2 Granny Smith apples
1 cucumber
6 stalks celery
2 cups Swiss chard
1 cup arugula
2 inches ginger
2 limes
Carrot juice (I heard so many stories of people healing from cancer who juiced so many carrots they turned orange!)
12 carrots
1 bunch of kale or spinach
1-2 oranges
1 inch ginger
Anti-inflammatory juice
2 carrots
1 sweet potato
1/4 pineapple
1 inch ginger

I’ll go into more details about my daily supplement routine in my next post. But for now, happy juicing!
